Syncrude employees top United Way campaign goal
Oct 30, 2014
Syncrude employees raised a record $2.48 million during the 2014 United Way Employee Campaign, exceeding its target of $2.2 million. The annual campaign supports the United Way in Fort McMurray, Edmonton and Calgary.
“Syncrude employees have once again demonstrated their commitment to helping the United Way and its agencies,” said Tracy Unger, Syncrude’s United Way Employee Campaign 2014 chair. “Not only did our employees give their money, they also gave their time. Several teams went down and volunteered at different agencies supported by United Way. There was a real connection to the cause from so many teams.”
The record fund-raising total includes a $400,000 donation by Syncrude to the Fort McMurray United Way campaign and a $15,000 corporate donation to the campaigns in Edmonton and Calgary.
“Syncrude is proud to support the employees who gave their time and funds to this campaign,” said John McCall, Syncrude’s vice president, Technical Operations Support and the campaign’s executive sponsor. “Their compassion and generosity have made the 36th annual United Way Employee Campaign a huge success.”
