Syncrude has reached a major milestone by passing the $2-billion mark in business conducted with Aboriginal-owned companies.

Fort McMurray – Syncrude responded to an incident at its Aurora mining facility north of Fort McMurray on Monday, July 1st. A contract worker was fatally injured as a result of an incident involving heavy equipment.


Restoration of the downtown Calgary area continues. Sun Life Plaza, AMEC Place and Dominion Centre are all open for normal business activity.

Emergency response and restoration crews are making good progress in the downtown core and areas are opening on a staged basis. However, Syncrude offices will open only when the City permits occupancy.


As of 3 pm today, June 24th, access to downtown Calgary remains restricted until at least mid-week. Syncrude’s offices remain closed and are inaccessible.


The flooding situation in Calgary remains serious and we again advise staff to adhere to all instructions from city officials and emergency response personnel.


Syncrude is telling all employees and contractors working in Calgary offices to stay home for the day, Friday, June 21st.
