Les Diachinsky
Aboriginal Business Liaison
Les Diachinsky is our Community Business Coordinator and Aboriginal Business Liaison. He is a 32-year Syncrude veteran with extensive experience in construction, maintenance and project management. Les maintains regular contact with the Aboriginal business community, and provides leadership to the Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association. He helps Aboriginal companies understand potential business opportunities with Syncrude and measure their performance. Says Les, “A successful entrepreneur understands customer needs and aligns their business to meet those needs; Syncrude’s procurement focus is on safety, quality, cost and timely delivery of services.”

Lana Hill
Aboriginal Community Investment Coordinator
Lana Hill is our Aboriginal Community Investment Coordinator. She helps Syncrude encourage and sustain the growth and well being of our Aboriginal communities by working with them to research and assess areas for potential Syncrude support. Lana also administers Syncrude’s Aboriginal Scholarship Program. Says Lana, “It is very fulfilling to have a career that involves meeting the people of this region and helping Syncrude support their aims.”

Mark Kruger
Acting Team Leader
Mark Kruger is our Acting Team Leader. He oversees the coordination of Syncrude’s Aboriginal relations strategy and ensures the company delivers on its commitments as a responsible and responsive neighbour. He assists the team in building and maintaining capacity with local First Nations and Metis communities, ensuring they are able to fully participate in the economic, business and employment benefits created by Syncrude. Karla Moir
Stakeholder Relations Advisor
Karla Moir is our Stakeholder Relations Advisor. In this role, she helps Syncrude be a responsible and respectful neighbour. One of the ways Karla does this is by designing and implementing consultation plans in cooperation with our Aboriginal stakeholders. Karla is also an active member of several local, provincial and national committees that promote the value of Aboriginal partnerships. Says Karla, “By building personal relationships we are able to understand community concerns and find appropriate solutions together.

Nonnie Roth
Aboriginal Recruitment Representative
Nonnie Roth is our Aboriginal Recruitment Representative. In this role, she works with local Aboriginal communities to identify and recruit interested Aboriginal candidates to Syncrude careers. Nonnie also advises Syncrude on opportunities for innovation in its Aboriginal recruitment practices. As well, she liaises with regional schools to promote the wide variety of career opportunities at Syncrude and also foster an appreciation among young and mature learners of the value of education. Says Nonnie, “Education and the pursuit of lifelong learning equip you with the knowledge and skills that allow your dreams to be realized.”
