Employment

"If you like what you do, then it's not really a job or work."

Employment data

During 2006, Syncrude hired 54 Aboriginal people. Of our total workforce of around 4,600 persons, 420 or 9.1 per cent are of Aboriginal descent. At Syncrude, Aboriginal people have a lower attrition rate than the general employee population.

In 2007, we expect to hire as many as 1,000 new employees and are working to ensure that as many as possible are hired from local Aboriginal communities. Subject to standard qualifications being met, Syncrude remains committed to hiring all Fort McKay Grade 12 graduates who wish to work at Syncrude.
