About This Report The Syncrude Aboriginal Review is one of many ways Syncrude communicates about its Aboriginal relations activities within and beyond Wood Buffalo. It documents some of what we've done over the past year to help further the aims and ambitions of Aboriginal people and communities. And, as a representation of our ongoing commitment to work with Aboriginal people to create and share opportunity, it is one among many foundations meant to foster dialogue and improvement.

Our Aboriginal Relations ProgramSyncrude has always had a relationship with the Aboriginal people of Wood Buffalo, one that has grown and strengthened over the years. But if we are to set out specific goals and priorities common to all, if we want to address and clarify expectations, and assess outcomes, the relationship must have form and organization. Our Aboriginal Relations Program—which evolves and changes with the company, the communities, and all the people who make it work—provides exactly that. It currently encompasses the six key commitment areas of corporate leadership, employment, business development, education and training, community development and the environment. It represents Syncrude’s ongoing commitment to work together on issues and opportunities that are important to everyone.
